Here's the latest example of how the All-Star game concept has become a joke. Look no further than the NBA where AI who couldn't cut it in Denver and Detroit has returned to Philadelphia. He's a shell of his former self playing on a bad team, yet he has pulled down a starter's role in the upcoming All-Star game.
I'm not a fan of the NFL All-Star game, but at least they have some checks and balances with votes by coaches and players and not just fans. The NFL All-Star game has just become boring over the years due to players pulling out because of injuries, vanilla offenses and defenses, and lopsided team representations. But, the ultimate in the absurd goes to the MLB All-Star game, where the winner determines who has home field advantage in the World Series.
